Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data the Sparring Record app processes, why, and what rights you have. Sparring Record is an app for combat-sport athletes to plan sparring sessions, run them with a timer, optionally record them, and track their own history.
Data we process
- Account & sign-in: With "Sign in with Apple" we receive your name and an email address (which may be an anonymized Apple relay address). These are used solely to create and manage your account.
- Profile: Display name, your sparring tag (handle), and optional details you enter yourself: country, the combat sports you train, gym, stance, weight, linked social profiles and a profile photo.
- Sessions: Sparring sessions you create, including date, sport, rounds, timings and partner names you enter.
- Video & audio recordings: Optionally recorded round clips, which include the audio captured by your microphone. These stay on your device first. If you choose to, they are uploaded as a private backup to your protected cloud storage and are visible only to you, until you actively share a session with a selected partner. If you allow it, clips can also be saved into your device's Photos library.
- Friends: Connections you create yourself via sparring tag or QR code.
- Technical data: To control uploads, the app checks locally whether you are on Wi-Fi or mobile data. This information never leaves your device.
Our website (sparringrecord.com) uses privacy-friendly, cookieless visit analytics (DataFast and Vercel Web Analytics) and Google Tag Manager to understand how the site is used. These run only on the website, not inside the app, and are not used to track you across other apps or sites.
Who we share data with (processors)
App:
- Supabase – authentication, database and storage. Hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Apple – for "Sign in with Apple" and delivery of the app via the App Store / TestFlight.
- Expo (EAS) – technical infrastructure for app builds and updates.
Website (sparringrecord.com):
- Vercel – hosting of the website and its privacy-friendly Web Analytics.
- DataFast – cookieless website visit analytics.
- Google (Tag Manager) – tag/measurement management on the website.
- Resend – if you join the waitlist on the website, your name and email are processed to send you product updates.
Your data is shared with other users only when you actively choose to share a session with a selected partner.
Legal basis & purpose
Processing is carried out to perform our agreement with you (providing the app's features, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for optional features such as video upload, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Local videos remain on your device until you delete them. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed.
Deleting your account & data
You can delete your account directly in the app at any time: open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data — profile, sessions and uploaded videos — on your device and in the cloud. You can also request deletion by emailing niklas.kietaibl@gmail.com. Locally stored videos can be removed by you on your device at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can also withdraw a given consent at any time and lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Children
Sparring Record is not directed at persons under the age of 16.
Changes
We may update this policy when features or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this address.
